Could a six speed gearbox be fitted instead of a 5 speed one and if so what apart from the box would be required, this is for the 105 1.9 tdi

The reason I am asking is when on a long run the car feels as if it could do with the extra gear and I think it would also improve the economy even further as the reves would be below 2,000 at 70 MPH

Think changing the car might be a cheaper option if you fully costed the project. My 100ps 5 speed Passat was perfectly relaxed at all motorway speeds and got ~42mpg under those circumstances. I get about 48mpg from the Octavia at similar speeds.I've a 6 speeder and mine does only ~68mph at 2000rpm.

I can get any bits required from a 140 tdi from my local scrappy, I am just wondering if it could be done.
