Faulty hazard warning switch

Featured Replies

If I indicate, as the indicator stalk returns to the off position the hazard warning switch continues to repeat rapidly, without the lights flashing.

I have replaced the hazard warning switch. It was fine for a short while but the problem has now returned does anybody have any suggestions?

I suspect that the 2nd switch was faulty however that seems unlikely.

Thanks.

If not the relay (which is part of the hazard switch, iirc) then I would suspect a problem with the indicator stalk instead.

In my Octy I was the relay which is part of the hazard switch as mbames mentioned. The local dealer (somewhere in Greece, I'm from Greece) pulled out the central air grills from dashboard and then pulled out the switch.

His next action was to slightly dissociate the two pins (right and left) the switch has. Till then, 6 years now past, no problem occurred. Don't worry about the dash board, it is very soft and nothing won't hurt it.

Hope i helped you and sorry for my rusty English.

Did you replace the faulty switch with a modified one available from Skoda dealers, ie part number 1U0 953 235E 300? This should be more reliable than the original one fitted.

It will be the indicator stalk, it's a steering wheel off/airbag removed job to replace it. You could try spraying some electrical contact cleaner into the base of the stalk.

I had a similar issue only it was my full beam that would flash when the steering wheel turned to turn of the indicator turned out to be the indicator stalk that has developed a fault and from when i replaced it 8 month ago i have had no further issues
