standard vrs clutch question.

Featured Replies

My vrs has now covered 38,000 miles, about 25,000 of which have been with a tuning box on (Tunit which has been laptop tuned to 184bhp 312lbft according to their dyno, seems abit optimistic but hey!) One thing i have noticed is the bite on the clutch seems quite high up the pedal. is this normal or is it a sign of wear with it having the tuning box on it? Another thing i have noticed is when the engine is cold (just after starting) the biting point doesnt seem quite as high up as when its warm. I have tried to see if the clutch will slip by puting my foot down below 2000 rpm in 5th or 6th gear (i know this is not a clever thing to do all the time) just to see if it will actually slip. However it shows no signs of slipping what so ever.

any ideas??

The biting point will change a little with wear, but if the pedal isn't heavy, there's no nasty noises, and it doesn't slip then it's fine.

There have been a few posts on here about the high biting point of the Fabia's clutch, my PD100 is very high but it doesn't bother me... and it doesn't slip!

The slight difference in bite point between hot and cold, may be due to a little air in the fluid, or old brake fluid that needs changed.

Bite point is very high on these cars, makes for quicker shifts
