Cam belt, service and MOT Prices

Featured Replies

Skoda Octavia vRS, 55 plate, 37500 miles

So I just called my local Skoda service centre to let them know my service light came on, I was a little confused as i'm on a variable service schedule.

My last service was June 08 at 22500miles, i'm now on 37500miles and I have 7 months left of the 2yrs variable..Random

The service dept said I should prob get it done now anyway :s,

He then told me my car was due it's 4 year cambelt change, suggested I get a new water pump too...fair enough.

He then had the delight in telling me my MOT is due in Dec too ....

All in all..the price was a shocker.....

MOT £50 or there abouts

Service £245

Cambelt, water pump and tensioners £440

Figures are "or there abouts" didn't write it down due to shock but the total inc fitting comes close to £740!!!

Does this sound about right or should I be looking for a mask and a horse on this guy?

I had the cambelt done about three weeks ago at my local Skoda dealer for £290 including the water pump. The 40k service was done at an independent garage for £207 last week including a brake fluid change.

Perhaps you need to phone a few other places and see what they offer as the cambelt price seems way too much.

i agree i know how much the parts cost them so theres some mega labour on that!

Funny that!

He said drop it off at 0830 it should be ready for mid afternoon.....Take out an hr for lunch and a bit of booking in/out time....That's a bloody good hourly wage!

Local independant quoted me £300 for the cambelt (full kit, waterpump and coolant topup), and £200 for a service on variable.
