Wipers Problem

Featured Replies

Ive tried to search this but cant find anything, anyway my drivers side wiper seems to be going to far and going off the window and touching the body of the car. How can i stop it as i only just noticed and its stated to take a bit of paint off.

you will have to move the wiper arm around slightly on the splines, i had to do mine this week for the same reason

its easier said than done as the arm usually seizes onto the splines, i had the use of a special puller to remove my arm

Could of slipped on the splines, But not that likely, You ahve to ask yourself, Why .. has it started & moved further ??!!

I would say that the wiper link mechanism is worn & that is the reason

Happened to me, someone pointed out you can drop the nut at the base of the moving section near the top of the bonnet and tools on eBay are available for about £10 (wiper release)

Annoyingly for me, it took the paintwork off where it was touching the body of the car eventhough I realised within a minute of having the wipers on. Have found that by nudging the wiper attachment, can seem to prevent this happening

Thats happening to mine its really irritating! - the paints not come off yet....but I might have to take it in and get it looked it...it will be fixed underwarrenty wont it, surely it wont come up as ware and tare? :)

When you think how many revolutions a wiper arm does & the p!$$ potical weather we get here, it's no wonder they wear out.

It's generally the Nylon Bushe's that wear on the mechanism, Eventually they fall out & one wiper Or both stop working.

A good test if the wipers are fixed to the splines properly, is to just push a pull your wiper arm up the screen (Gently) It should move very little, If the bushes are worn , it will move quite a bit & loosely Etc...

Fixed with a whole new mechanism, Not sure whether that's a warranty part or not, No doubt a dealer/garage would argue the fact ...

i have tired to move them there seems no movement in it and the other wiser moves when i gently pull push the other 1 whilst looking at how the wiper sits in park it sits fine so i don't think it can be moved on the splines other wise it will the touching the bottom of the window how much is it to replace the bushes
