Potential vRS purchase and insurance?

Featured Replies

Hi all, new to the forum, so be gentle!!

At the risk of big flames, I am deliberating between a S60 D5 (!!!) and a vRS tfsi , both somewhere around the 06 era...

I am 34 with a clean licence.

What sort of quotes are you guys getting for FC on a vRS? The Volvo is looking like about 300 notes.

I'm wanting a brisk comfy mile muncher with sensible economy and several toys. Both cars seem to offer this.

Thanks, Tim.

Suprised you are not also looking at the vRS diesel, it would still be quicker than the D5.

Easiest thing is probably to give 'Gocompare' or such like a go, and compare quotes between the cars. Insurance is so dependent upon a number of factors that it is hard to compare with someone else's situation.

Just for ref I am paying under £300 for a CR vRS with not much excess, but then again I am older!

My 2.0 TSI Octavia will cost me about £350 to insure. Am 32 and stay in a city.

Thanks both for your input!

Alas the budget of about 8.5k won't allow a diesel vRS sadly !!!

The reason for considering the S60 is that I had one as a company car at one time, and for comfort it was superb and ability in general. A chipped D5 really flies too.

Prefer the look of the VRS though..

I wouldn't say a VRS is especially 'comfy' though - have you taken one out for a spin yet?

Just had a look on Auto Trader and there are 2 PD (Diesel) VRS's you could buy with 8.5k, so you might have an option there too.

Hi,

I purchased a 56 plate Petrol Vrs 3 weeks ago and my insurance cost me £280 for the year with Aviva, I live just south of Newcastle and am 36.

I'd definately go for the octy over the vulva!

Cheers

Paul

30 miles from glasgow, garaged, no mods

Stick with the petrol vRS, unless you're doing mega-miles
