remap problem

Featured Replies

hi , i have had my car remapped by a company called eco power tuning , and not to sure if i have a poor remap or a problem with the car , when starting the car for the first time that day it is reluctant to rev above 2500rpm , and hesitates , to clear this i have to hit full throttle and it wheel spins a lot , also it seems to go better when on half throttle than on full throttle , also can someone also tell me when the main torque comes in and goes , as setting off from junctions is very difficult (it either wheel spins or bogs down . it seems to pull from 2300 to about 4000rpm then back off again ,there are no faults in the em system , thanks phil

Never heard of them

Have you had it scanned for fault codes? Is that what you meant by "no faults in the em system"?

yes thats what i mean , sorry . there are no faults in the engine managment system

That doesn't sound good. Please don't tell me you are revving it above 3000rpm when it's cold?

I think you need to put the car back to standard to see if that helps, and if there is a problem, remedy it before having the map put on/redone.

Well, if these faults appeared at the same time the remap was done then I think there is a good chance that the remap is responsible for your problems. TBH I would get the car back to standard ASAP and I'd drive it as little as possible in the meantime.

Take it back to the remappers - it sounds as if something has gone wrong and if it was OK before the remap but not after then the remap is a strong candidate for the problems.

Everybody makes mistakes sometimes - they could have loaded an incorrect map. Get it back to standard, check it's all OK and then get it re-mapped. It may need a couple of days back & forth to check with a cold engine etc. but soldiering on with it in its current state isn't going to be good in the long run - I'm sure you know this already

Does seem to point to the remap given the timing, but also sounds a bit like a dodgy MAF - one to consider maybe but probably not.

Defo get the map taken off and put the car back to standard.

you mean these guys:

Eco Power Tuning Specialists Ltd - Dealers

Personally I wouldnt trust anyone that has a list of so called dealers with just mobile numbers and no sign of a real address anywhere on the entire website.

I take it they did a flash remap with no dyno testing and poor quality files downloaded from the net for £50 and written with a flash tool. I see this type of problem daily with Ebay remaps that people have spent £250 on, trial and error tuning is all well and good, but no way on my car!

I work at a tuning centre and we see people everyday with massive problems caused by inexperienced wannabe tuners, my advice is to get it put back to standard and use a pro tuning company for your remap.

Amy.

Agree with others and get it back to standard and go elsewhere for a quality remap

You didn't get this one did you?:

Full Race every thing is maxed out purely for the petrol heads.
