Sticking glove box door

Featured Replies

Does anyone else have a problem with their glovebox door being VERY stiff and difficult to open?

Not on either of ours.

If it comes to it, instructions for removing the entire unit can be found here:

recently mine would not open at all. I had to use force to open it. The lid is made of two pieces welded together. I forced the two sides apart, and found it had multiple tags to join the two sides.High frequency welding by vibration had been used to join the sides. The fault ,the catch ,had jumped a tooth, leaving part of the latch exposed, which jammed on one of the fixed side cut outs . The mechanism, which is quite flimsy, consist of a cog wheel turned by lifting the handle. Two toothed pieces in slides were made to pull in both side catches releasing the lid. After realigning mechanism,I joined both sides with UHU . To make sure the side stayed together and glued ,l put 4 1" panel pins in both ends of the lid. They are not seen when lid is shut. I did paint the nail heads with grey paint.
