My car has started making a clunking noise from the front suspension after much too-ing and fro-ing to my local garage they have decided that it is the anti roll bar (i could have told them that myself) so the question is how much are standard anti roll bars, i would get an uprated one but i am looking to sell my car in the next couple of months so i don't see the point it is a fabia 1.4 mpi by the way.

If you're getting clunking over bumps like me and bigal though, it is "almost" certainly the ARB/bushes. There's little else to clunk like that down there in those circumstances.

edit: just re-read above post.. Strut? You mean the metal bit of the ARB? Because if thats the case this bit is not the fault, its the joints at the ends of the ARB I believe, which is the bushes I refer to above... Or at least I believe so. I may do a little ETKA CD investigation tonight.

No, by 'strut' I meant McPherson strut which was what the dealer thought was at fault and changed under warranty...

The Fabia ARB fault only effects the smaller petrol engined cars with the 18mm ARB iirc. Havent seen it ona TDi as yet but i guess it could well do the same. The collars that locate the ARB side to side break off and the ARB shifts sideways. Then the ARB fouls on the subframe mounting causing the knocking.
