hopefully someone can shed some light on the couple of faults my wifes fabia 1.4 8v is having,

1, everyonce in a while a little yellow tap like warning signal comes up on the dash, stays for a few days but the disapears maybe a few days/weeks later, any idea what i means/could be, (term needle in haystack i know), the car has a little air filter on there other than than its standard (would love an airbox if you know of one kickin about)

2, some days the car will not start 1st time, crank it and nothing, stop and try again boom fires up, struggles a little for 5 seconds then fine

3, Bonnet release handle has broken off is this a common problem, and easy to fix (again know anyone breaking a car )(Skoda Service a really unhelpull)

4, knocking noise from front of car (found problem)

5, Wiper motor has decided to play sily bugger, and now likes to stop in the vertical position, still works fine but won't rest in its correct position

if you can help on any of these items, it would be most appreciated

also how can i reset the service interval counter, its flashing at me when i start the car, just done a full service at home so want to reset it

1. - Can you identify the warning light from these....

To reset the OIL/INSP display where the trip meter goes.

To make it easier BUTTON is the reset button for trip.

OIL -

Press and hold BUTTON

Switch ignition on

Release BUTTON as soon as OIL appeares in the trip part of speedo

Turn BUTTON to right until OIL is replaced by - - -

switch ignition off

This should stop OIL being displayed when ignition is turned on.

INSP -

Press and hold BUTTON

Switch ignition on

Release BUTTON as soon as OIL appeares in the trip part of speedo

Press and hold BUTTON

Release BUTTON as soon as INSP appeares in the trip part of speedo

Turn BUTTON to right untill INSP is replaced by - - -

switch ignition off

This should stop INSP being displayed when ignition is turned on.

cheers for the replys, will have a butchers at the service reset,

the warning light i have is the control system for exhaust, any idea what thats gonna mean/ need replacing, (sorry i didnt get a users manual with the car)

The exhaust thing usually relates to something like the EGR valve, think it's as much of a problem on that engine as it is on others.

Getting the car read for fault codes will usually help narrow down the issue, or if your confident you could try cleaning the EGR valve for free.
