Laptop charger pinout .

Featured Replies

Daughter has acquired a laptop sans charger .The charger is rated 19v @3.19A(as marked on the laptop) - and funnly enough ( as the result of a bit of magpye activity when we moved office ,I've got a Compaq charger as rated)-but the laptop does not have the pinout of the power plug .

Anyone got any ides of where to find said info , or does anyone have data of charger pinout of NEC C140 Verso plug . Got to convert plug on charger to fit said laptop -but that's a minor problem - the polarity of the input is more important .Said charger is centre pin positive .

Any info would be appreciated - would help old grandad get screaming teenage gran daughter off back as the battery has only got a few hours left .

It'll be on the charger and laptop somewhere.

Possibly on the MISSING charger -that's the problem -nothing on the laptop to indicate polarity .As said ,got a compaq charger of identical capacity ,but whether pinout of plug is identical is questioable .

Not tried it on anything delivering quite so much current, but more than once I've 'confirmed' the polarity by trail and error (don't tell Octygone! :D ) If you do it with the laptop off and just see if the battery charge light comes on, it ought to mitigate the risk of damage... :ne_nau:

The NEC site just sent me round in circles .Tried googling all sorts of things -only result was a site Statesside ,but the picture was too small to see the plug diagram .That one comes up nicely on photoshop .Shows the plug pinout as expected -+ in centre .( apologies if I seem nitpicky -too many years working to IRSE and SMTH MEAN -if no diagram -STOP)

Thanks CM .

Got an old Compaq one -19v 3.19aA - got the plug data from the stateside site - so will get plug on and keep daughter happy .

Update - works a treat - thanks guys .
