steering wheel warning on dash

Featured Replies

Thought I would share what I have found on my Fabia.

The warning light came on Thursday Morning, and stayed on for the rest of the journey.

Switched off and light was off, On my way to work later that morning light came on again, switched off and back on again - light now on again.

Got to work and got a scan for the fault codes

01290 Reference Voltage: Steering Assist

01598 Drive Battery Voltage

17911 Load Signal from Alternator Term. DF:Implausable Signal: P1503

Done a bit of digging on the site here

Checked Battery & connections

Checked Alternator output

All OK

Checked the sensor on the steering rack - found that the wiring fron the sensor to the pump had come out of the clip and had been touching the exhaust and has melted the insulation and the wires are bare.

New sensor has now been fitted

Another scan of fault codes

17911 Load Signal from Alternator Term. DF:Implausable Signal: P1503

2 out of 3 ain't bad

Further investigation has shown block connector near starter motor has got 2 bare wires this is still on the to do list.

Its simply amazing what you can find on the site when you use the search function!!

Hi,

Wonder if you could help with an advice. Bought a fabia few days with power steering totaly dead. turned out it has been flooded and ps sensor and pump have been fried kfc style. I changed them both and read healthy 14.5V on the main supply wire feeding the ps motor but, power steering is still dead. the warning light remains on and I 'v been told that I must reset the alarm codes in order to restore the power steering operation. is this correct and can a simple fault code reader like this one do it? http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_GDVAG.html

You help would be most appreciated.

Cheers
