Audi S3 Intercooler

Featured Replies

Hi

I've recently bought an 06 Octy VRS Estate, it's had a Revo Stage 1 Remap- which is excellent but it's time to get more.

I've ordered a Carbonio Air Intake for it and was researching bigger intercoolers and I've noticed allot of people reffering to Audi S3 Intercoolers as a cheaper, OEM upgrade.

Can anyone tell me how easy this is to fit, what parts are needed or if there are companies out there that will do this conversion. I'm really not mechanically minded!

Many thanks

Nik

its a bit of a mission to fix the S3 intercooler. the whole front slam panel and everything needs to come off, your talking quite a few hours, proabably even more so if your not mechanically minded.

S3 cooler wise you can get them off alot of the tuners websites, but also try a dealer, as you might be able to get them to price match or beat it.

Im going to be getting a forge twintercooler for mine. its alot easier to fit, and can be picked up brand new on ebay from amarillo motorsport for £450.

S3 cooler is cheaper by a little bit, but i think when you factor in labour costs they balance out.

S3 cooler is probably a little overkill for a stage 1 map though, however if you are going further then why not.

what are your plans for the car??

JKM will fit the S3 intercooler for £150 plus VAT.

Depending on where you get it from, you may need to fork out for the intercooler pipes although the MK5 GTI boys just take a hacksaw to their existing pipes - not sure if this would work on the Octy.

You may or may not need an additional pipe too depending on what it fitted to yours currently - have a look at JKM's website for an explanation, another £45 or so.

To fit the S3 cooler you need both pipes and the cooler of course.

I bought a cooler from ebay for £150 but the pipes cost another 75quid.
