Estate lips

Featured Replies

Hi,

I notice that the S and SE have "lips" on the estate versions and so I wondered if the variable boot floor accessories "level" out the boot...? and if so which of the VBF accessories are required...?

Many Thanks

Graham

I ordered a VBF on my Scout so I got a lipless loadbay.

I dont know if it is standard on any of the trim levels.

It's shown as std on the Elegence and L&K in the new October brochure.

I think it's worth noting here that all Octavia Estates (Scout or otherwise) have a boot "lip". The VBF flattens out the internal boot "step", but you will still have the "lip" at the back of the car.

I don't have a VBF myself, but I'm fairly certain my info is accurate...

Not sure what everyone means by a "lip", but just had a look at our L&K estate and the rear plastic door surround is no more than 5mm (at most) proud of the flat load floor - never even noticed it before. Of course, if you remove the false floor there is a real lip!

Perhaps I'm wrong about the VBF then, I thought it just flattened out the step in the boot itself :o

Yeah, it also gets rid of the step between the boot floor and the folded down seat backs when seats folded, so you get one long flat area and basically no lip.

I find the VBF really useful. When transporting pushchair, I go for flat floor. When not with baby, I use the floor in the folded vertical boot-separating position, to stop my shopping or whatever flying around.

I didnt realise the VBF could be used in multiple ways.... when I get home I will play.

Mine came with one, not sure if it was standard as it has other extras fitted to it, but I hate it. When I get chance I'm going to rip the bugger out and get one of those non-slip rubber mats.

I like to carry around a diesel can in the back, had to use it twice when doing long trips and not wanting to spend 10p more a litre on motorway services, as I like to wait to refil the car when it gets below 50 indicated miles. Anyway, with the VBF the bloody thing slides all over the place, smashing the **** out of the back of the seats and the boot door. Can't secure it with the cargo net as its a metal 10L heavy bugger. At the moment it sits in the footwell behind the passenger seat.

Also find it annoying as you can't fit anything underneath it, it takes up a lot of space so you can't even pull the privacy blind across if you put too much in there. All it does if give you a flatter loading bay, can't think of many situations where that is useful tbh and who would want the boot door supporting the weight of something heavy in the boot when accelerating hard.
