Routine Service Schedule

Featured Replies

Does a Routine Service Schedule exist for the Octavia II (2005)?, and if so, where can I find it ?

This is the first car I have owned that does not list routine servicing in the Owners Handbook or Service Record Book

Haynes only do a Service and Repair Manual for the earlier model.

Can anyone help?

The service schedule should be in the service record book. I found it there in my 55 Reg Octy anyway. Haynes (According to an email from one retailer I asked) don't plan to make a manual for the Octy II any time soon unfortunately, though the VW Golf book will be pretty much the same provided it covers the same engine. Haynes manuals are not as good as they used to be though. As more Octy II's get out of warranty the chance of a Haynes book turning up will increase though.

Routine servicing every week or two (For low mileage use like my car gets) should be making sure fluid levels are correct (Oil, coolant, brake fluid, washer fluid), checking tyre pressures and keeping an eye out for changes in the car's behaviour while you're driving it. You can visually inspect the outer brake pad on each disk through the alloy wheels on my car, which will give you an idea when they need looking at.

If you're on variable servicing the engine will monitor the oil quality itself and tell you when it reckons an oil change is needed. The car will also tell you if any of the light bulbs have blown. I've a full dealer service history at the moment, so I'll probably keep taking it to the local dealer to make sure I don't lose a resale or potential good will on parts/labour through gaps in service history.
