Netbook scare tonight

Featured Replies

Running AVG free edition and never had any problems with it until tonight when some unwarranted "ant-virus" software attached itself and started doing a system scan, and wouldn't let me out without subscribing. It somehow then wouldn't let me run AVG, or let me click on system restore initially, saying that the relevant file was infected. I finally managed to reboot and get to system restore before it managed to load itself again, and restored the system back to a previous date. What the hell is going on out there ?

Is the Avast freeware better than the AVG then Val ?

I'd certainly recommend it + I did mention it to you before Freeware - just register at home site for 1yr, then re-register after again for next year etc.

I'm not entirely sure whats gone off Brimma. The gf's computer has got Comodo Antivirus+Firewall on, which hasn't had any issues as of yet. I ditched AVG years ago, when i did a free online check with panda antivirus and found alot of problems. I've been running Kaspersky since, which has semt to become a little resource hungry at times, but can be tailored to your preferences. I got a 2yr renewal for around £30 so took them up on there offer.

Yup another AVG is pants here too.

After using an online scanner as above, every system I've ever seen with it has been infected with some nasty trojans.

Avoid!
