Factory Defaults

Featured Replies

Hi all,Having read numerous threads about people trying to activate/deactivate various functions on their new Octys I was wondering how they are set up when they leave the factory. In particular the following: (1). Service interval - is this set to variable or fixed by the factory? I'm thinking I would like mine set to fixed from the start, then I know where I am and after the first year or so can do my own interim 6000 mile or so oil changes between dealer services. I'm assuming I'll have to ask the dealer to change it during the PDI if the factory set it to variable. (2). DRLs - I would think they should work by default but have noticed in threads that some owners are having to enable them after delivery.Following on from this in owners experience is there anything else anyone can suggest I might want to ask to be set up at PDI time? (I'm hoping for early Jan delivery)Cheers,Bob--

As far as I know the servicing is set to variable from the factory.

DRL's will need to be enabled unless you have ordered a VRS as it comes with separate LED DRL's as standard.

they all come with long life oil in from factory

some have to have this oil - even on fixed service

due to the dpf filter

Yes, they are all set to variable, if you want fixed get it done at PDI. If you have ordered a diesel vRS, then you will need to use the expensive variable servicing oil regardless of service interval to protect the DPF. The 507.01 oil is about £14 per litre, and will need about 5 litres for an oil change.

£14 a litre!!! I assume that's main dealer price - surely I can get it cheaper if I shop around? Looks like I will have to use the long life stuff as I have ordered a CR vRS with a DPF.Bob--

Why do you need to do interim services? These days there is no need, and as the car monitors the oil quality this could cause you issues with service interval messages.

There is also the likely hood that Skoda could walk away if you have any engine related faults as a result of DIY oil changes.

Another big issue is VAG suck the oil out of the engine. The sump bolt is one use only, and easily cross threaded.

Only if you are inept :)

I assume with a DPF delete pipe and software to suit the removal you could use the fixed servicing oil?

Many dealers manage it. ;)
