Leaky Doors = Smelly Classic?

Featured Replies

Basically as above.

Seeing as most Fabias think they left the factory as colanders, does this make for a car that (as it ages and the level of maintenance drops along with owners apathy) will basically stink?

Are the only good vRS etc going to be the ones that either,

A. the dealers fixed or

B. Us, the Brisky Owners fixed?

Just a thought. :)

Yup, the underlay will really start to stink if it gets damp too often, and not dried out properly. You can also get mold spores, which can in fact be dangerous to some people with allergies. Thing is, the sealant the dealers use, is hopeless. Even though my car is in warranty, I did the job myself. Unibond 3 in 1 sealant, nuclear grade .

The sealant is brilliant, its all in the application

When I got my VRS (already leaking I might add...)

I thought I'd be smart and put the pukka VRS rear mats away

and replace them with some hard wearing rubber ones... BIG MISTAKE!!!

I've got no mats in the back at all now. The rubber ones just helped keep the

carpet damp and smelly... By the time I realised I had a tiny bit of mould too...

It's all dried out for now but I STILL haven't gotten round to sealing the doors...

I'm sure a couple of downpours later it will start to dampen again no doubt...

Just real busy at work right now and Mrs Grr has been polishing her knuckledusters....

I believe she'd like the hall finished before Xmas... Nuff said.. :)
