Economy from 1.9Tdi 105

Featured Replies

My company provided Superb recently gave just over 59mpg based on full to empty to full (pump first click). Has anyone bettered this figure, perhaps in a Greenline?

Driving carefully results in an easy 700+ mile range, my best being 776 miles (58.79mpg).

At 27,000 miles, the car is nicely loosened up and consumes motorways and A-roads with ease.

Does anyone else have favourable experiences with the humble 1.9Tdi?

My Roomy 1.9 averaged 54mpg for 1,500 miles from new but this has since dropped to 52mpg due to shorter journeys. I am well chuffed with these figures.

Perhaps my biggest surprise was the degree to which the engine quietened after 2,000 miles. Briskoda threads suggest the engine will quieten still further during the next 10,000 miles. I have to say the engine sounded like an old Ford Transit on the day I collected the car from the dealer.

The VW engine generates more than enough power/torque for my needs and is much more responsive and economical than my old 1.9 Schitroen.

Two months into ownership and the grin on my face is wider than ever.

What size tank does the Superb have to achieve 700miles?

I feel the PD105 octavia feels a little underpowered on the motorway and requires a downshift to get things rolling for a overtaking manouver. It's great cruiser if your willing to sit at 60mph though.

Witth 139k on the clocks, on a run i've managed 52mpg at 540miles to the tank. But i do have to mention that on the way to the destination i was cruising most of the way.

With the odd hard blast to clear the system out here and there as its run around town most of the time. Which see's about 34-36mpg in stop start situations. They feel great with a remap too, but its worth while having a reliable map put on.

60 Liter. Which is quite cute if you take into consideration that the 3.6 4x4 has to struggle to make 500 km with it.....

It's around 60 mpg, which on a cruise is about right for a 105 bhp model, very economic engine, sadly quite power lacking as well.

Yes, mine was sluggish from new (more so than the Octy I drove previously), but was markedly improved by a Performance Torque remap at around the 3,000 miles mark.
