Vredsteins or not

Featured Replies

Going for two new front tyres on Monday getting ultrac sessanta"s, £100 each, just wondered if anyone has any other suggestions before monday as to alternatives got dunlop sportmax on at the moment which have done 18,500 miles and seemed ok.

Vredsteins sessantas are a good tyre, plenty of people on here also like the toyo t1r, never tried them myself though

Im well impressed with the level of grip from the Vredsteins, especially in the wet!

What i would recommend though, is putting the Vreds on the back if you've got budgets or tyres that aren't as good already on the back.

As i found that in the wet, you can press on, at roundabouts taking a steady line feeling for the front to start breaking away. When the rear starts to go, you get a feeling as though your starting to skew on the spot.

Dunlop sp sports on rear.

I dont know how they would both compare in levels of grip in the wet, but the vreds really do hang in there.

If you take it easy in the wet then you should be fine.

dont buy toyos, hand and foot the worst tyre ive ever had, replaced them with vreds and on the 90 mile journey to the nurburgring after fitting they had more grip then the toyos and they continued to get better. fantastic tyre.

I've found them to get better up to having 1000miles on them, i just dont push them that hard at the moment. Until i can get the rear camber setup and some vreds on the rear, as the ones on it have saw toothed bad. Even after a Geo!

Which should see some interesting handling then, i may even have to look at Eibach front and rear ARB's ;)

Vreds - buy them. One of the best tyres around. Avoid Toyo's at the moment - they seem to have lost their way - probably because they keep cocking about with the compound and tread pattern. T1R becomes T1S becomes T1R etc etc.......

I've had Ultrac Sessantas both front and rear for the last 2 years, with another 2 new fronts installed recently. I have driven on a lot of different tyres and can say there is no better in the wet... and that is where tyres differ a lot. In the dry, most tyres have similiar performance. Only thing I can fault Vred's is on fuel economy, but more than make up on pure grip :)

I'm looking to replace my front tyres in the next few weeks and was going to put Vreds on, what impact have they made to your MPG?

Stokey

Not much, barely noticible, but I am also going from info given in tyre reviews, so I suppose that is just stuck in my head.
