Yeti real driving MPG

Featured Replies

Hi, New to the forum and currently drive a 2001 Octavia TDI with 156K on the clock. Been a great car and never let me down in all those miles! Concidering changing to a Yeti but would like to hear what owners real MPG is expecially for the diesel versions - my Octavia has always given me 55 - 60 mpg.Any chance of owners providing their mpg together with model and an honest assessment of their driving style? Many thanks

I have the 2.0litre 140bhp 4x4 Yeti SE. I am currently getting 44 mpg which is a combination of motorway, A&B roads, and urban streets. I would describe my drivig as average. Usually stick to the speed limits. Hope this helps.

Driving my 140BHP around town to make good progress, not driving like the car is stolen gave me 42 MPG on the last tank full using the Maxidot. I have yet to do a brim to brim. My car has completed 2000 and given its a 4 wheel drive and the power that is available, Im well pleased and I thought my last car was good, (PD105 DSG) but this is outstanding.

Thanks to those who have replied to date. Mid 40s seems to be the message for 4x4 models. Would you expect the mpg to increase as the motor get more miles under its wheels?? Anyone got a 2 wheel drive version on the road yet??Thanks again

I would expect mine to increase to about 45/46 town driving by the time I get to 20k

20,000 miles appeared to be a turning point for my previous Golf 4motion TDI PD, with a noticeable improvement in mpg.

The Snow-monster is currently averaging 41 mpg (fill to fill) with a 1000 miles covered so far.

If you believe the computer, looks much the same for my 110PS 4X4 after almost 300 miles.

For information , my current Octavia is getting 47 mpg on a gentle A road commute.

It's not surprising for an Octy to be better as it has less driven wheels and is more aerodynamic.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread, but those mpg figures are more than I get from a 57plate octavia 2.0tdi dsg with 13,000 on the clock. AND i drive like a granny. I am struggling to get 475miles out of a tank full???

Maxi-dot on the run to work is normally indicating around the 44-46 mark, the 41 being calculated from distance against pump fill reading.

So currently the Snow-monster is about 4mpg down on the Golf prior to 20,000 miles. Would think another 3-4000 and the Yeti may start matching the Golf.

Hi Birdwell,

My Octavia is a 2001 110bhp tdi with 156k on the clock now. I drive consevatorly usually on longer runs staying just inside the speed limit. The reserve light usually comes on just after 500 miles and I have at least 50 miles left in the tank. If you are struggling to get 470 miles from a tank I would suspect something is not as it should be. I have manage 600 miles on a tank but this was on a slower motorway run (60ish) but it does show what the motor will achieve.

Thanks again for all yeti owners input on their mpg.

Anyone read latest diesel car report where the yeti again beat the nisan quasimodo (!)

My new Yeti actually did 45.7 mpg when topped up after 400 miles. This was mixed town and motorway driving, although I was driving quite gently.

Now that Yeti owners have covered more miles (even though I have yet to see one on the road) has anyone managed to improve on mid 40s for their mpg?

6.1 Liter/100km = 16 km/l = 46 MPG. Mixed driving. My target was 6.0 l/100 km, but I am going to lower the target.

125 kW Ambition, 1000 miles so far.

Hi all

Just re-fueled my 110bhp diesel yeti 2wd have averaged just short of 42 mpg on the first 400 miles .Mileage has been a mix of short med and some longer runs but mostly on small country roads no dual or motorways. So am well pleased considering so far.It can only get better from here

Hi,

Fuel consumption report on my 1.8TSi.

Engine now are at total run of 1800km. Last 810km are almost only small trips of 3-10km. Partly in slippery, snow and cold conditions. Some still stand time when exploring Columbus or waiting for wife doing shopping.

This very uneconomical driving ends up with 9,4l/100km (25MPG) fill to fill, Thats about the same that's measured by Maxi-Dot.

When the car was brand new had some longer trips and that ended up at about 8l/100km.(30MPG).

The engine, I must say is excellent. I just love it. It's so silent, exept when you push the pedal and are pressed back in the seat and feel the joy of beeing a Yeti owner.

I had some doubt wether to buy the diesel CR140 or petrol 1.8 but since I'm only had petrol engines I ended up with that. No regrets.

Finally got to let the Yeti off its leash for a 100 mile run each way to see the folks.

Mileage is now around 500 miles total.

Today’s trip was a mix of motorway and single/dual carriageway A-roads (with plenty of roundabouts!). Figures are from the MFD which means may be not entirely accurate but is good enough for giving an idea.

The trip up was ‘high speed’ letting the engine rev occasionally to 3000rpm, brisk acceleration etc.

Distance: 97 miles

Average speed: 57 mph

Average MPG: 38.5MPG

The trip back was in laid back mode, not exceeding 60mph or 2500rpm during much more gentle acceleration.

Distance: 108 miles

Average speed: 46 mph

Average MPG: 47.6MPG

So, if you want to go 25% faster average speed, expect to burn 23% more fuel which isn’t a bad result given the way aerodynamic drag increases as the square of speed!

Very smooth power delivery after the PD130 (breathed on) in my Fabia but not really trying at the moment. Very stable handling, excellent grip - even with the roads in the post-snow/gritted condition, very quiet, very comfortable. Every home should have a Yeti!
