Moving a gas meter that is indoors..

Obviously we can't do this ourselves as it's gas! But, has anyone had the pleasure of trying to get one that's indoors moved? Ours is at floor level in one corner of our lounge. It's never been a problem, until now, as we've just bought a corner suite and that's the corner it's sitting in, causing the sofa to stick out!

We looked into getting the meter moved outside (literally just the other side of this wall) and they wanted hundreds of pounds, but this was some years ago. I'm hoping that having them outside is actively encouraged now and it might be cheaper.

Any stories to tell?

Im Afraid nothing much has changed & it is still 100's !!!.. It's all down to where your Gas feed come's into your property/ground from the street & where the outside box can be located Etc, In respect to this

I dug the trench across our property for the new gas pipe to save a few quid, & it was a few quid ...
