where under dash can I find the wires that lead to the front blinkers?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

need your help: where in the interior can I find the wires that lead to the front blinkers?

Reason for my question is that I've bought a US blinker module but I would like to implement a switch... easiest way to do this would be if I could install the module somewhere under my dash

Thx

I really dont undertand what you want to do, but you can locate the blinkers wires under the dash on the Confort Control Unit.

Here is a pic were is located the Confort Control Unit

You can put the hazzard blinkers to work and with a volmeter check the two wires that show voltage at one of the conector plug at the CCU Confort Control Unit. In the CCU, one wire will turn on the right side front and back and another wire will turn left side front and back. So you will find two wires that show voltage.

If you only want that the front blinkers work and not the rear ones you will need to insolate the rear ones with some 10 amp diodes and you will have to wire the blinkers directly on the front of the cars or find the wires under dash thats goes to the front blinkers.

To remove the Skoda Octavia under dash cover, there are several screws that will be very easy to remove BUT there is a screw hiden behind the round headlight switch. in order to remove this screw, you need to take out the round headlight switch. The best way to take out the headlight switch is to remove the screws that attach the fuse box, then push back a little the fuse box back and introduce your hand in order to push out the headlight switch.

I asume you have some electronics knowledge. If you have installed a car radio, amplifier, or a car alarm before this, it will be a easy job for you. If you are not comfortable working with electronics, better dont do nothing or find a qualified individual to help you with the installation.

Good luck

Hi Isaac,

Thanks for the reply, I'll try to explain what I want to do:

I've purchased a US module which will light up my blinkers cstly around 40%... when I use my blinker I will thus get 40% - 100% - 40% - 100% etc

The wire (+) going to the blinker needs to be cut and the module needs to be put in between, a 3rd wire on the module needs to be connected to any +12V (often the headlight voltage is used)

This setup is normally done in the motor-compartment itself but then there isn't the possibility to add a switch to the whole thing to switch it off. Also there is a bigger risk of short-circuit is the wires aren't insulated properly

Hence my preference would be to find the wires under the dash that lead to the front blinkers so I can cut them there and put the module in between

If I understand correctly the seperate blinker wires (front back left and right) don't all arrive on the 2 connectors of the comfort module and I'll have to look for them somewhere under the dash, is this correct?

Thx

OK, KNOW I undertand what you want to do. DO NOT USE the wires that come out from the CCU. These wires that get out from the CCU are the ones that make the blinkers to blink ONLY when you use your remote key to unlock or lock the car. They will not work with the blinker module.

You NEED to intall you blinker module BETWEEN the wires thats goes to your front blinkers............. Thats why they recomend to do this under the hood.

The only way to do this inside the car is to check the wires colors that are conected to the front blinkers and trace them/try to find does same color wires inside the car under the dash, firewall or under the carpet. You will need to use a volmeter to find out the correct wires under the dash.

Good luck,

Isaac
