Steering Wheel Wear

Featured Replies

3500 miles on the clock and my wheel is already starting to become shiny. Not impressed to be honest - my Punto took 40K to show signs of wear so I was expecting a little better from a VAG group vehicle. Any ideas, suggestions to reduce this? Short of using telepathy to steer I'm not sure what I can do but if it goes on at this rate, by 10K I'll be looking for a replacement wheel as nothing annoys me more or makes the interior look so tatty.

wash your hands more?

Can't blame you though, soon as I picked my audi up the first thing I was thinking was, how much for a new steering wheel

Poorboy's Leather Stuff - that'll do. Leave that on the wheel overnight (preferably one milder night) and then remove with an MF cloth the next morning. That'll clean down the wheel, feed the leather and leave some protection on there.

As such I've had a 90k Skoda wheel that didn't exhibit what you're describing.

Mine was quite shiny very quickly as well, I think it is just the leather they use, same thing happened in the Golf I had, they laso do them in plastic I think

I've got some Poorboys Leather Stuff on its way - thanks guys. Really annoyed though - this is simply not good enough on a £16K vehicle. For crying out loud my bloody Punto HGT took 40K before it went shiny. I replaced it at 45K because I could - got a brand new one on ebay for £40 so it was a no brainer however I would have expected a VAG vehicle to last at least as long. Very poor show.........

Mine was fairly shiny when new. Like those other forumeers who thought they had not got the Elegance part leather interior, I'm not very impressed with the quality of the leather.

Perversely , the shine is going after 8000miles.
