H & R Springs

Featured Replies

Hello any advice welcome,

I wasn't really looking to change my suspension but wonder if its a good idea with the offer awesome have on at the moment (and what with the vat increase and the end of the the year and who know maybe up to 20%, but that another issue).

http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=13866&xSec=300 £182.85 inc vat

I guess my question is about ride comfort and improvement in handling what the deal with tadeoffs.

So What does the H & R springs do for ride comfort as I do go over a lot of humps to work and back. I really dont want to make the ride any harder if possible (I know tradeoffs tho). I Know Coilovers give the best handling but at the expensive of ride comfort? and I think the roads round here (London) are too bad and humpy for that.

Another issue is I tend to go on a road trip every year round Europe and this means camping and a lot of stuff in the car and the clearance is fine now but would a drop of 20mm start to make an issue? or are the springs got extra stiffness to mean I don't have to worry about this.

(But on a side issue when I was down at Impossible Mike was saying that he had just fitted some of the newer spax coilovers to a Vrs and the Quality felt quiet good compared to what they used to be like and the adjust meant was very easy and could be done on the car just with a socket I think, which might be good for the caming issue.)

Also with better springs do I need to think about now shocks? and how much would I be looking at for them as well and any suggestion (more for the long term).

And how hard is it to change springs?

Really want to know people opions as there people out that that have done all this and know alot more about suspension than me!

Thanks

Hello mate, H&R`springs are highly rated by many on here i have them too with koni fsd's, work great together. Any aftermarket springs will make the ride harder, also its not really a good idea to use them with the standard dampers it might make it very bouncy and may handle worse then before. H&R springs will lower the vrs by about 15mm, i have a lcr splitter on mine and most of the time it's fine, just have to watch for sharp incline's etc. So you should really be looking to get shocks and springs together, or you could just change the shocks and use the standrad springs this will be a good set up for crap roads and also wont lower the car.

I'm running H&R springs with FSD's, still find the ride comfortable on Manchester roads just as crap as London's. Mine is about 10mm lower than standard not had any clearance problems even with loaded up boot. Price wise this set up is about the same as some coilovers.

Hi

I must admit , H&R are cracking quality for the Octavia , and specific to your car

The pricings on H&R went up ALOT this time last year , but we have managed to get some good prices , and the Octavia was one that I wanted to get back to a good price

So we are pleased to get them at this reduced price

We have 3 sets in stock too :D
