Laptop Ram Question?

Featured Replies

Just a quick one, I am doing some looking but cant seem to get my head round it,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 with vista 32bit HP on it and 2GB of DDR2 PC-5300 667mhz, the CPU is the Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 667 FSB 2mb cache, and the NVidia 8600M 256mb gfx card.

now Ive done the crucial test and it says that I can put in pc-6400 800mhz ram? what is the score on that, It is cheaper to buy this than the 667 stuff, I want to put 4gb in.

also is there a better gfx card that will go in it?

Is the CPU FSB the max speed the Ram Will run at?

cheers billy

Check the price of PC5300 and PC6200 - often the faster (and newer) memory will be as cheap if not cheaper.

It's backwards compatible and will run at the lower speed.
