Kit, what are you running as a server? If it's an Intel quad-core, running Vista, then there is a known issue with Vista SP1 that affects a significant minority of these machines. Yes, guys, I'm calling BS on your calls of BS, because unless you happen to be using one of this minority of machines, you can't even reproduce the problem!

Please do give further details as I have a selection of servers running a selection of Intel CPU's and various board configurations and have heard nothing about this at all.

Also if the guy supplied said server and there is an issue with it doing the task he supplied it for then it's up to him to fix it as the good supplied are not fit for purpose.

Far better for the guy to offer a solution than just charge for it.

I don't know full details; it's my sis's Mesh desktop running Home Premium that has the issue. So far, the only remedy is to apply updates manually.

Its a Dell pweredge 840 server with back up unit (tapes) and UPS running SBS2003 premium edition, with a Dell latitude D520 laptop ,Dell Optiplex 745 tower and an HP office jet printer. Total cost was 7000 Euro in 2007.

At that rate I think it's not the same issue my sis has; that seems to be confined to certain processor and motherboard combinations.
