Fabia alloys question....

Featured Replies

Just had the seller of my new pro-race 1 alloys say they will not fit my car.

I knew they were ET25, but doesn't that just mean they sit a little prouder than normal, and that me having ET38 alloys on 15mm spacers is providing the exact same stance (give or take the 2mm?)

I sometimes cannot fathom offsets and always thought the higher the offset the more they sit in the arch, comprimising suspension. A low offset wheel just sits out more right?

As far as I am aware you are correct, it sits further out with the lower offset, or should I say the outside edge sits further away from the hub.

Then again with too much offset would mean the tyre may hit or snag on the arch under load.. so it will defo clear the brakes and suspension but might snag on the arches? Hope this helps a little..

Yeah - Have that tyre bible in my faves, but somehow my head couldn't link the diagrams to the case in point.

If these wheels clear brembos without any need for my spacers, there's going to be 4 15mm eibach hubcentric spacers for sale soon! ;)

did the seller say why they wudnt fit?

Not as such, just said they were an unsuitable offset. Not heard back since I replied saying I was well aware of the offset and "it will be fine!"

would of thort as long as width was 7 1/2 " they'd be same as 8" wide and 38 offset..

Width is 7.0J, so actually half an inch thinner than my current wheels. I know they will be fine as people on here are using them, and similar.

I allways use this Jason, just type in your standard/current alloys size/offsets and then your new ones and it tells you exactly what difference there is.. :smirk:

Cheers Mr Pip - Would add to your Rep if there was a button for it. Seems to have gone

Crux of the issue is, still using the spacers, the wheels will sit 7mm further out, or obviously without the spacers they will sit 8mm further in. Plenty of clearance on the suspension side as well which is good news.

Issue is then, HOW fat will they be with the spacers on. Extra 7mm might push me into too much protrusion and therefore MOT failure territory (not that removing 4 spacers for MOT is a biggy....) :D

Well, I never got a reply to me saying essentially "well, just bloody send them" so wasn't sure what was going on.

Four boxes waiting for me at home though! B)B) Couldn't believe how deeply inset the bolt holes are. Looks like they'll easily clear the brembos without the spacers fitted. B)
