Bio-Diesel

Featured Replies

Hello!!!

I've noticed that my local Morrisons is flogging Bio-Diesel at the pumps. It says about checking with the Manufacturers before using it, but thought I would ask here... Anyone used it, thought of using it, or avoiding it like the plague?

Cheers. Dave.

I've been told on here it'll be fine to run my Fabia VRS on it but I'm still scared to do so lol

it's getting mapped soon so will maybe try it after that

I used to use up to 20% Biodiesel in my remapped '04 Fabia VRS and found that the engine ran smoother, cleaner and quieter with it than without it.

Avoid bio-diesel in a PD engine; it has lower lubricity, and will reduce the life of the injectors significantly.

Actually, it's quite the opposite, biodiesel has higher lubricity than diesel, in particular much higher than ULSD sold everywhere in the UK.

The reason why it is no longer recommended to use biodiesel in PD engines around winter time is to do with water content - if biodiesel is out of spec, water will damage pump injectors.

So if I use this spec soydiesel (B20) I'm OK?

I'm in Sydney Australia where the winter temps are rarely below 10 degrees celcius.
