On Board Columbus Computer Hard drive

Featured Replies

Hey Guys ( and Girls? )

had this superb since july and it came half loaded with music on the hard drive . Normally pretty good at instruction books but have to admit unable to fathom which SD card to get ,whether you can download with bluetooth from an Ipod or do you connect through the Aux socket in the armrest to add more music as there is still plenty of space but is there another way to achieve that ?. Ipswich Skoda dealer , Norwich skoda and Lincoln ( where purchased ) not had cause to use it and unable to help .Skoda Uk online site not informative enough on detail .

Thought i had it cracked today , bought a Sandisk SD Card ( 2GB ) loaded music on the laptop but the Columbus hard drive wouldn't reconize it . Having watched this Forum from the side lines and and admired all the smart Cookies answering all sorts of queries ................except loading music !!!.

Soooooooooooooo. how about it ? is there any one out there who can tell me where i am going wrong ?

Welcome aboard! emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Format the card as FAT32 not NTFS... fill it with music (top 80s classics from the likes of Bananarama, Human League, Heaven 17, China Crisis etc work best! emoticon-0148-yes.gifemoticon-0140-rofl.gif ), put it in the Columbus & should start playing the music. Press the screen where it shows "SD Card" & that takes you to the folder structure, the little square button at the end, click on that & you should get the option to copy. Follow the on screen blurb for the rest... might not be verbatim but if you get that far, you'll suss it!!

If you're a bloke & you've already looked in the manual - please, have a serious word with yourself!! ...you're letting the side down reading instructions?! emoticon-0120-doh.gifemoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Thanks for the welcome Simbo , as for reading the handbook instructions .... its an age thing !!

great to have some input , have to admit didn't know that the SD card had to be formatted ...................

unsure about Human League having a crisis in China , haven't caught up with the news today .

will let you know how i go ............. hopefully by Christmas

Formatted SD card into Fat32 Simbo as suggested ............but Columbus although it reconizes a SD card it won't allow download . SD card loads really easily so i must have the correct type

( purposely didn't get a SDHC card ) . Maybe it is my choise in music it doesn't like , but then you got yours on didn't you !!!

Can you turn on the Bluetooth in the Columbus for its 3 minutes phase ..... then use a laptop to sync with it .....and then down load music that way ??

incidently its cold out there now

If it's not playing the music, maybe the songs are DRM copy protected?! Unless someone else can remember or post up beforehand, at the w/e I'll copy some (more top 80s emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif) tunes onto SD & note the exact steps to copy to the HDD! emoticon-0148-yes.gif

The Columbus doesn't have Bluetooth... if you have the original Skoda Bluetooth kit fitted, it integrates with the Columbus for the sound & display but isn't an integral part of the Columbus... it just 'appears' as though it is. You definitely can't copy music via BT...

Okay finally i understand .......... no bluetooth option !! Found a small piece of software on line to convert Music files to MP3 which gave a 90 second free trial , burned to the SD card but found the usual Columbus window popped up on insertion ..... SD Card in error please check the SD card . None of the HDD buttons are active at this stage only OK button to return to Hdd screen

appreciated your imput Simbo
