right, got the nova working and must say i am acutally quite impressed with it. TBH not a big fun of D or TD normally as i don't like the short power band and quick changing but this nova drives like a petrol but with the turbo kick around 2800 rpm, in second it actually starts to roar and goes like poop of the shovel.

anyone recommend any upgrades for this sorta thing? looking at kinda making our own straight through exhaust with a big'ole back box and dumping the stupidly placed air filter(integral the the intake manifold) in place of a new re-positioned cone filter and repiping it after the turbo to add an intercooler.

other than that we don't know how to make it go faster, but we do want better suspension/brakes

Don't forget slamming it, the heuuuuge subs, and of course the pimp tints. When it's all finished you can respray it luminescent purple ...

Get some NOS on it...could easily get another 25-50bhp out of it. Mind you, if you intend to kill it in the name of science, you could try 100bhp... :D

dont wanna kill it, my mate don't drive so he's lookin at learning in it and havin it.

we want uber tints and a super gloss black respray and the obvious as-low-as-possible suspension, no tacky stickers tho.

was thinking about nos but then the cost came into it, a local shop mentioned them getting in kits for

and yes we do have an intercooler to fit on but we need to look at positioning and piping as it will be a bespoke job to fit it. pics will follow but i warn ya, its a complete sh!tbox at the moment, dirty as hell with a new rear arch needed, probably a wing too

Bengie - go for doing all the mechanical stuff to make it go and stop well and leave the shell plain and messy. Reckon then it could be a great sleeper and completely against the chav tendencies of making it look better / faster than it is ... think of the fun you could have with the "image" Nova boys :thumbup:

mate did that a little while ago, i piece 'o'crap 5 door nova saloon, met grey with standard big steel's and rust all over the shop.

oh yeah, forgot to mention the 2.0 8v and chavalier gsi brakes, went and stopped like hell but looked a total mess. was soooooo funny to whoop people in, they hard a bemused look on their faces

shed update, air intake re-routed and redesigned, rather than going round the houses and over/through lots of hot parts it is now about 18 inches long with a bigger diameter, almost no bend and a 57i on the end, only slightly louder but responds better :thumbup:

now for the exhaust we are making ;)

Nope, it's unlikely! Diesels sound pretty awful when they're not silenced properly, I used to work on big generator sets, and the noise was awful if you didn't get the exhaust right.

Best one was a marine set, that used a rubber flexi exhaust. It moo'ed like an enormous cow!

That exhaust is pretty much how mine is - not as big, but no cat. Only way to get it sounding good is to pump through some serious power and then on full acceleration it does rumble nicely.

it sounds alright from teh inside at the mo anywho, under heavy acceleration that is, kinda roars

any ideas on the use of dump valves on the 1.5TD? it sound like its got one bu then it might just be getting drowned out by the diesel rattle if its a recirc valve, i want a big loud BOV, any ideas lads?(ladettes permitted too ofcourse)
