Yes, I'm mental.

Yes, I know it's not long since you fine folks all said to go for a vRS in Black Magic like I fancied http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/144822-gaaah/page__p__1812944__fromsearch__1entry1812944 but things have changed!

Firstly, the amount of Black Magic vRS's I've noticed going about since I moved to the mainland for college is unreal, even ones with the mods I'd add, so I'd ideally like something with a bit more individuality than that.

So we come to my own car... for those who don't know it, here she is http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/134288-my-3-day-detail/page__p__1681796__fromsearch__1entry1681796

And she has been remapped, but I do want more, so here's my new plan...

I want to add vRS front and rear bumpers (regarding the rear bumper, the current parking sensors got raped by a shoddy bodyshop and aren't really required on a car this size IMO) and a performance exhaust setup (Magnex or Blueflame...but will this fit the PD100 with a vRS rear bumper????)

Regarding the engine, I'm thinking PD130 injectors and a custom remap following these would see good gains. Anyone care to comment? In addition, I'd be looking to swap the hubs for vRS items to suit a 312mm brake conversion.

Finally, I may be getting hold of a set of 17' VW Evolos soon, so picture the car with these, vRS bumpers and black leather (did I forget to mention that? ;) ) and let me know what you think B)

My reasons for all this are twofold...costs and originality. I've ploughed too much money into this car over the last 18 months to make buying a vRS and starting from scratch economically viable. In addition, I REALLY like the idea of the above in Graphite Grey, with cruise and heated seats (which my car has)

If anyone can shed any light on costs, suppliers, etc, plus any general thoughts or opinions, then please let me know

Many thanks in advance,

Andrew

Didn't the Mongrel start life as a PD100? Good plan if so! emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Thanks emoticon-0148-yes.gif

It did indeed emoticon-0100-smile.gif

PM sent then emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Now be prepared to spend lots of money emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I'd say it was more like lots and lots and lots of money emoticon-0103-cool.gif

so instead of buying a vRS because they're too common ( :( ) you're making your Fabia look like one...

Jason's car did indeed start it's life as a PD100 (or similar) but he did a complete engine/transmission swap rather than change bits and bobs on the original engine

Sorry Leo, but i'd either buy the vRS, or leave it as it is. You've got a great example of a PD100 mate. Nice power, Nice mods. No point in trying to turn it into something its not.

Good luck anyway mate.

All it needs really is a set of vRS bumpers and i'd enjoy it for a little while longer and buy a vRS SE when they are a bit cheaper...

Normally when these kinda ideas come up i`m with the "just buy a vrs" brigade, however, your reasons for not doing that kinda make sense. If you have owned a car for a number of years you know its history and its issues. If you know what you want in your head, as you sound like you do, then i think it`d be just as much work to get a vrs and spray it in the colour you want, and add the nice little options you already have. All the bits needing to be replaced to up the power will be new, or you`ll know of the condition of them at least, so the engine will be reliable. Also, if your after bigger power in the future you`ll be able to start the basic upgrades now.

Keep us updated either way, lots of pics too!

Good luck

Matt

I like the sound of your plans and I like what you've doen with your car so far, but I think the biggest positive difference between our old 1.9 PD100 (remapped) and our new (standard) vRS is the six speed gearbox

Mate, I have a Black Magic VRS. If money were no object... (Sadly it is....)

I would be down the bodyshop as quick as a flash having mine sprayed the same

colour as yours.... I say go for it.... I reckon a VR(eplica) in that colour would look MEGA!

I'd also like to see a white one with black alloys and tints...

Maybe a personal fantasy but I think that would look wicked too....

Thanks for all the input guys and gals, it's all much appreciated.

I'm kind of glad to see it splits opinion :giggle: The front bumper can wait, but to me the rear is a must to finish it off.

I'll post a more comprehensive reply tomorrow...I drove 334 miles in snow and ice today so I'm a tad drained!

I can try to help where I can, but I can't realistically see you doing anything like I did. Keeping the pd100 styling, and doing some minor engine work using pd130 bits to get it into the 180bhp region is fair enough though.

That's the kind of ballpark figure I was thinking of actually, I'm not trying to make another Mongrel  waaaay too much work. And money...

Thanks Jason  What PD130 bits would be required, just the injectors, or is the inlet manifold needed too?

No one will ever do anything like you did Jason, they simply don't make mentals like you anymore. :giggle:

I like the idea fella. Anything other than standard is what it is all about so get stuck in and just like one or two others have said, the colour of your car is very, very nice. I would much prefer mine to be in that colour.

I wish they'd get the 'Thanks' button back

one would imagine just the turbo would see you too pretty much 180 when mapped, after that it will get expensive
