But i assume no one has any experience with them, as i've had no reply.

If you want to read/erase codes and read ECU information, it'll be OK. If you want more advanced functions like re-coding control units, enabling functions and reading/recording live data, then it won't be for you. I've no experience of this machine, but by looking at the listing for what is not mentioned, I'm assuming that this can't do it.

Stop being cheapskates and buy one then let us know how you get on.

I have one of these, although differently badged. Also have VCDS.

The nice thing about the Autel unit is that its small and hand-held and therefore can be left in the glovebox. Also needs no external power source. Its obviously doesn't have anywhere near the features of VCDS, but it is good value for money and very easy to use.
