Skoda Mk2 VRS Cambelt change

Featured Replies

Hi

I have owned an octavia 2.0 FSI VRS for the past 6 months. It is a fantastic car and I have enjoyed owing it. However it is over 3 years old now and it just clocked up 70k and I was wondering if I should get cambelt and water pump changed now. I was going to leave it for another 6 months but I'm concerned now after reading forum posts. I think the manufacturers recommend 120,000km which is about 75k miles but not too sure. A lot of people seem to say they get theres done at 60k miles. Is there anything else I should get checked when I get it serviced as this will be the first service I have had since I have owned it.

Thanks

Rob

id do it, better to be safe than sorry imo

I just had mine done at 51k miles and the water pump was leaking ever so slightly

Mitchells in Cheshire Oaks have a deal all december where they pay the VAT

So it cost for a 3rd Variable Service, CamBelt & Water Pump and Fitting of DS2500 brake pads cost £646

Better than about £4.5k for a new engine

Get brake Fluid done aswell if it's not logged in the service book. Otherwise just get them to check everything. I always ask them to give it a once over and Mitchells have always been good so have Caffyns in Ashford and Simpsons in Colne. All of which know the state of tune of my car.

Got mine done at 80k after 2 yrs, there were no problems and the pump looked like new but I would change it if I were you.
