Octavia I GLXi a few codes

Featured Replies

Hi guys, hope you can help.

A couple of months back my SDi was written off, and i've recently got hold of a 2000 V reg 2.0 GLXi cheaply. Been running fine for the last few weeks, then the check engine light came on. My brother in laws mate came over and scanned the car with VAG-Com and it's flashed up a few codes. Would you mind having a look over the codes and let me know if it's anything serious or something that can be DIY'd fairly easily as funds are a bit tight as per usual this time of year. The check engine light was off again when i tried it the following day.

Theres also a few codes for the central locking but I think i know how to sort those by reading a few other threads here.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

With intermittent codes, it's usually a case of clearing them, using the car for a while, re-scanning and seeing what codes reappear. Looking at your codes it would seem that replacing the temperature sensor and investigating the misfire on number 2 cylinder would be a start. Misfires on the 2 litre petrol are quite common, it could be the plugs as they are a 40000 mile change interval and not easy to get at, leads are common and have metal caps at the plug end which could short to the cylinder head, also whilst there it may be a good idea to use some silicone grease where the leads attach to the plugs. We usually get our silicone grease from the local Ford dealer. Only when the misfire and temperature readings are sorted and the engine is running as it should do will the catalyst have any chance of working correctly.

Neil

Have you tried looking in the usefull part numbers thread in the Octavia 1 forum?
