Brakes again....

Featured Replies

So ive had a search around and couldn’t find the answer.

Does anyone know if there is any difference between the callipers on the VRS (288mm) and say the mk4 GTI/Leon

The reason i ask is because ive heard of Golf owners only changing the carriers and disks to 312mm upgrades but still using the same calliper

Im pretty sure i will have the change the callipers to upgrade to 312

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that there is a massive difference in size between the callipers on the 288mm and 312mm set ups meaning the larger carriers can't be used with the smaller calipers.

This pictorial used to feature pics to show the difference but as work blocks links to pictures I can't verify if the pics are still there since the server upheaval

and you will indeed need to change the complete set up (calipers, carriers and discs) to upgrade

I think the 288's on a Fabia/Ibiza/Polo use a different caliper to the 288's on the likes of the Leon/Golf/Octavia, the larger platform cars have the same caliper for 288 and 312mm brakes with a different carrier
