Contemplating going to view the above car this week, didn't know if anyone knows any background on it?. From the reg KN would I be right in thinking this would have been an ex skoda UK car?

Dont know about that,

the prefix kn is just the area it was registered, in this case, Northhampton.

Mine is DX, that was done in Shrewsbury.

i think you will find it was a skoda car most were K something as they pre reg cars there some were also O something

will it not state the previous owners on the V5C? my 2003/03 Fabia vRS was owned by Skoda UK as a press car and is listed as such on the V5C document

KN = the dreaded Milton Keynes. Almost certainly an ex VAG car.

The cheaper cars are given to the more junior staff members and generally get thrashed.

Following on from this...

Is it just common practice to change the cambelt/water pump @ 60k on these engines?...as it's not been done (car's done 66k) and the dealer has said the service book states 115k?!

Is this a skoda dealer?

The service book should not be relied on for things like cambelt intervals. All the service book shows is what the recommended interval is at the time of printing. For the Octy vRS it was revised down to 60K or 4 years due to lots of belt failures.

That's what I thought...independant not a main dealer unfortunately.
