Wheel Sizes

Sorry to be a pain, but I'm trying to clarify what steel wheels will fit my Mk2 Diesel Vrs Estate currently running on 18"s.

I want to put winter tyres on complete with steel wheels.

Mytyres are showing steel wheels - 16" with these figures :- PCD 5x112 Offset 57 and ET :50

Unfortunatley none of this means anything to me!

My question is simple - Will these fit?

Thanx in advance.

p.s. I have tried searching, but have become more confused the more I read. Sorry.

You will be going from 18s to 16s, the only difference will be the tyre profile, IE, the width and height of the tyre, both sets will have the same circumference

The 16s will have a narrower tread and a higher side wall

Thanx for that, and I understand that bit.

What I don't understand is the PCD, and Offset bit.

I want to make sure that if I order these steel wheels, that they will fit.

Thanx again.

p.s. MyTyres - is the website, and not My tyres (as in whats on my car)

Go to a scrappy, and get a set of 16s from any VW Skoda seat dont worry about the parameters

He wants to know if the ones he can buy will fit.

Have you had a look at your spare wheel recently? I bet you that it is a 16" 'steelie' with 205/55 tyre - just get four of these steel wheels from your dealer and then add tyres to match.

The official rims for wintertyres are:

6.0 x 16 ET50 PCD 5x112

or

6.5 x 16 ET50 PCD 5x112 (but these are not compatible with snowchains. Evt with the expensive RUD Centrax chains)

Thanx - look forward to hearing how you got on.

Thanx to everyone else - still not sure what all these figures mean tho, but at least have established that the steel wheels plus tyres from MyTyres should fit.

Thanx again
