Upgrade original 56 Plate VRS Head Unit with Ipod and Bluetooth Integration

Featured Replies

Hi People,

I've had my 56 plate VRS from new. Its a great car and really enjoy it, in fact I'd go so far as to say its the best car I've owned and I've had a few ;)

The only thing I'd like to change/add is ipod intgration and bluetooth phone connection.

I've searched around the forums, other websites and good old google. I've also contacted my local dealer but I thought I'd post a new thread to help me move in the right direction.

I've spoken to a few "ICE Specialists" and they've advised that I dont remove the original head unit and buy both an ipod adapter and a seperate bluetooth phone kit. They say it'd be best not to remove the original head unit as it may cause "other" parts of the cars electronics to fail.

The ipod is a 5th Gen 80GB Classic and the phone is a HTC HD2.

What would be my best option? To do as they say or replace the head unit with an after market one?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

In my opinion the 'ice specialists' you went to aren't very specialised if they think removing the standard headunit and replacing it will cause faults somewhere else on the car. Ever since aftermarket headunits have been available people have changed with no problems.

I have upgraded my headunit to a double din 7" touch screen which has sat nav, dvd, bluetooth and ipod connectivity etc.. and had no problems. Even though the head unit is good i wish i had bought an ipod lead for the standard headunit to keep it looking standard.

I'm not sure about the makes/models of phone and ipod so i'll leave that to an expert to come along and tell you.

Welcome anyway, nearly 4 years without a post :o
