Room, thats about it tbh, I could say reliable but the Honda will be also, Honda might hold it's money better, but once you plant ass in a Superb it's very hard to get out.

I would think the price would be a factor, depends on your haggling skills with the salesman.

You can pay around 28k for a well specced diesel Accord but a similar Superb Elegance DSG diesel would be something like 23-25k (Both saloons).

The ride is probably quite firm on the Accord as per the norm, the Accord dash is a bit of a button fest IMO, the Superb interior is much less cluttered as most of the functions are managed via a touch screen.

You won't beat the Superb for space, rear leg room in particular.

I would expect the Accord to be slightly more reliable than the Superb.

Get a test drive of both cars on the same day if possible and go from there.

My last company car b4 i got the Superb Elegance was the Honda Accord Exec 2.2 diesel.

My thoughts are that the Honda diesel was smoother and more refined even though I now have the 170 Superb, the Honda engine was just that bit more punchier and smoother in delivery of power.

Sat Nav in the Honda was full post code, Superb is not.

Build quality and reliabilty on the Honda was brilliant even after 3 yrs and 80k miles. Not a dash rattle nor a break down.

Apart from that I believe the Skoda to be a better all round mota and love driving it even after 9 months. Hope the build quality is as good as the Honda but somehow doubt it will be.

As there are no post code's here in Ireland am not sure that is of any advantage. I have no idea as to how good the coverage of the Skoda unit will be in Ireland, but the Sat-Nav in my last Civic was next to useless here, Cobh in Co Cork (not to small a town) had a main rd leading to it and nothing more

I had an Accord 2.2 diesel from new....on an 04 plate and it was nothing like as relaible as people speak of with Honda.

At just over a year old the car's moment of crowning glory was when the vehicle stability module packed in on the motorway. Whilst doing 70mph ish, in good dry conditions, the vehicle started counteracting a skid that wasn't occuring and the automated braking had me swerving lane to lane until it brought me to a hault in the fast lane.......not a good feeling at any time let alone at 7 am on the Leeds/Manchester M62. Rattles and squeeaks I can live with, however, rear brake caliper problems, wheel bearing problems, wheel speed monitoring device failure, vehicle stability unit failure, power steering pump failure....are all citical and not what you expect of honda. After 50k miles I was happy to see the back of the Accord.

I realise that my Honda must have been made on a Friday, and shouldn't be used to judge all Honda's, however I'd lean towards a Superb instead this time!
