Spare Wheel

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

As there was already a car in the country and my car had died a death I got my new VRS straight from the port. hence no spare wheel and I don't really want to cough 200 quid from Skoda.

Do you know if its only Octavia wheels that will fit or any Skoda spare wheel, and is it year specific? Plus I will need to get a jack, same deal with that?

Cheers,

Steve

You can order the jack & tool kit for around the £60 mark, a steel rim ( S1K0601027K03C) will cost around about the same.

Ebay is a good source any VAG car with 5x112 stud patern will fit.

Any 16inch wheel will fit the well, I do not know about 17 inchers.

Typical cars with the right wheel fitting are the MK5 Golf and Audis after 2003

Cool thanks for that, I have several scrappies round my neck of the woods and one of them must have a wheel for one of these. The jack iis going to be harder to find Im guessing. However I did get 3 years roadside included in my car deal so I could always look like a wuss and get the RAC to come jack me up in the mean time if I need it! :)

17" steel spares will not fit the spare wheel well.

I guessed it would have to be smaller than that. I believe that anything smaller than the 18"s I have on the car will restrict me to 50mph anyway so not a major deal, just saves me using the goop and knackering a tire if I get a flat.

The Jack in my mother's 1999 Mark IV 1.4l Golf is identical with that of my 2008 Octavia. I used it to rotate my wheels (didn't want to get mine dirty :giggle: ).

VAG says don't Mix and Match but I suspect it is a very common part across the VAG range. The foam insert with Jack and wheel brace would therefore "do" out of any VW but the Golf has a bolt with a large plastic head on it to fix the wheel in the boot. The Octavia has a diferent arangement.

Looks like I will be keeping phoning the scrappies on the off chance that one appears there for the fittings, but its good to know about the wheel setup. Cheers folks.
