Can u get Bluetooth without DSG?

Featured Replies

can u get blue tooth with out the dsg?

or can u get anything to use ur fone with the radio?

cheers folks

Unfortunately bluetooth is ONLY available on DSG.

There are a few kits you can buy, I know that halfords do one and theres one called PARROT but they both involve fitting a speaker rather than using the car radio.

Most Parrot kits can be fitted using the cars stereo system.

I had one fitted to my Focus ST by Halfords and works brilliantly. Phone connects via BT as soon as you get in car and autoanswers. Radio is muted and call played through the car's speakers. £120 (2006)

I (and a number of others on here) have fitted the OEM bluetooth kit to our non-facelift Octavias following a group buy organised by VrStu.

Dealers will also fit them if you supply the kit. Need to have Maxidot though.

Only problem is that without a multi-function steering wheel, control of the bluetooth is only via the right stalk.

Mmmm sounds good so no extra parts to be fitted then?

I have a parrot 9200 fitting in my car. I got it done at the garage before I picked the car up. Got it for about 145 quid off roadradio.com. Its got an LCD display that they have mounted by the middle air vents, dual microphones that are up by the front interior light and has a wireless remote you can attach to the steeringwheel. They fed the connectors into my glove box where you have an iPod, usb and aux connector.

Im impressed with mine and have a 16GB SD car in the thing and use it mostly rather than my Bolero.

At the time Halfords were doing the Parrot CK3000 Evolution for £100 including free fitting, you also need a car specific wiring loom which was £20

You can get factory fit bluetooth without DSG, just not on the VRs... and it's overpriced as far as I'm concerned. It's not a standalone option, it's bundled in with multifuntion steering wheels and adds £710 to a non-DSG Elegance or SE

Bloody stupid decision if you ask me, but as it doesn't work properly with a iPhone anyway I decided to go far an after market kit when my VRs turns up.... Probably going for the Fiscon unit that costrs nearly as much as the factory fit but will work with just about any bluetooth phone on the market and supports bluetooth streaming for music.

If I hadn't ordered a DSG I would go the Parrot route, but as I have the multifunction steering wheel I'm going to spend the extra on a kit that uses the buttons :-)

Ford charges about £150 to add bluetooth to most of their cars now...
