Iced Sensors

Featured Replies

Backed up the drive this morning with my parking sensors screaming at me. Nothing there of course. Forgot to clear chunks of ice off the sensors.

Just in case anyone else wonders where their noise is coming from!!

Hi!

If they are factory fitted (not by dealer from accessory kit) then there is a speaker in the b pillar. Accessory sensors got speaker in the boot area.

and also they will beep like mad when snow falling around behind them too! you can turn them of ok sound down via the radio.

Can you? Never knew that! You learn something every day!

I know my original Stream unit, (which had the sensor display as well) used to quieten the audio sound when the bleeps were on, but this doesn't happen in the MFD2 Nexus Nav unit, which doesn't have the audio reduce facility. (factory fitted reverse sensors)

Off to brave -8 degrees now to try this out........

Back in a minute.

**** it's cold out there! No, you can't turn the volume up or down via the Nexus.

On mine it is going into reverse that quietens the radio, whether sensors bleeping or not - as rear sensors only work when you are in reverse gear, perhaps it is that happening.

Same has been happening with mine over the past couple of mornings, caused by a think covering of frost on the sensors.

Reversing without them isn't a problem (I remembered how to do it!) but the screeching they make is a right distraction! Had to keep turning them off.

No option to turn the volume down in mine - doesn't seem to be any interaction with the MDFII - doesn't reduce the stereo volume when they engage either.
