Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor

Featured Replies

Hello :hi:

Has anybody changed their Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor?

I have the following fault code:

1 Fault Found:

01274 - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71)

37-00 - Faulty

And there's no sound of movement when I press the recirculation button on the Climatronic. I think it's stuck in the closed position.

Does the dash have to come out, or can the motor be changed by removing the glove box? I did a search but most reference to this fault code seems to be from the Octavia I forum.

Thanks in advance,

It's apparently a difficult item to get to, but these flaps can often be freed if you take out the pollen filter element and get an assistant to gently push the flap whilst operating the "recirc" function on the dashboard.

It might be worth checking if any water is starting to make its way down there...

Hey mate,

Never done this but i do have the entire workshop manual for the Superb electronically.

First overview of the complete airflow system inside your Superb:

Yours should be number 11 - Fresh/re-circulating air flap control motor -V154-

And here's how to:

Removing and installing control motor for fresh/re-circulating air flap -V154-

Removing

– Remove storage compartment on passenger side.

– Use a mirror on the passenger side to look behind the air conditioning unit.

– Release fixing screws (TORX T15) -arrows-.

– Unclip fresh/re-circulating air flap lever

– Disconnect the plug connector.

– Pull out control motor downwards.

Installing

Depending on the position of the control motor you must position the fresh/re-circulating flap lever by hand.

Thanks for the replies.

I tried moving the flap whilst pressing the button on the dash but it didn't work, so looks like its a new motor job. It's all nice and dry, which is good!

Many thanks for the guide, that'll be very useful.

Cheers,

Lucky bugger

Yours looks easy compared too the octy.

How's the new motor then ???

Just a thought Phil

You can log in with vcds and do basic setting on the flap which re-trains it's start and end position, may be of some help too you :)
