Third Skoda Ordered

Featured Replies

Hi All

I've had an Octavia 1.9TD hatchback for a fault free 11 years and am very impressed. In June 08 I bought my wife a Fabia 3,1.9TD. Equally impressed with it though it doesn't yet achieve the now exceptional economy of the old Octavia which seemed to loosen up somewhat at about 100,000 miles. On 29 Dec 09 I ordered an L & K estate, 1.8TSI DSG, Rosso Brunello with Onyx Alcantara interior. Spare wheel, Paddle shift steering wheel, and tyre pressure monitor as only extras. Will be first petrol I've owned for about 25 years but was attracted to that particular engine for it's "diesel like properties", quietness and relatively good economy (for petrol) and the 7 speed DSG. I would have gone for diesel + 6 speed DSG had the CR version been available but I didn't fancy the VRS. Nearly bought the top range Yeti but the salesman could not get near the price I thought to be reasonable. My consideration of Yeti shows why I would not consider VRS as we have country roads here which don't all suit low slung hard suspension.

So that is my intro. Been scouring posts on this forum for a long time but this is first post. Might have some things to ask / say in March - the expected delivery date. In the mean time my old Octavia still feels like / runs like a brand new car so I can be patient.

The L&K is lovely (doesn't need many extras). I am on my third. First one was an Octy I but got crushed by a falling tree while I was driving it (very lucky escape), the second I traded in last December when they were offering zero VAT and discounts on the pre facelift model, and the new one just gets better and better.

They have all been diesels but I don't do the mileage to justify it any more so I will be following you down the petrol route in a few years when I next change. My latest top tip for the Octy is winter tyres - what a difference om winding country roads, especially on hard packed snow. So sure footed it's amazing. Yesterday I cruised along roads that have only seen 4X4s for the last three weeks
