Skoda Assistance via RAC

Featured Replies

Took delivery of my new VRS in December and like all new Skoda's it came with the Skoda Assistance package. As I already had RAC membership, I contacted the RAC to see if this membership could be suspended until later in the year and re-activated when the Skoda package on my wife's car expired. RAC have done this in the past without problem. This time I was told that it couldn't be done nor could a refund be given(which I wasn't asking for). Queried this with RAC Customer Services and was eventually called by one of their staff who told me that these suspensions were fine until a few months ago and customers were often advised by manufacturers to do this. RAC has now had a change of policy in an attempt to maximise its revenue so no suspensions.

I've always been happy with RAC service(member since 1993) but will certainly look at alternatives when I need some cover.

Anyone else had the same experience?

Skoda assist is normally contracted out to the RAC anyway and is managed by them

Strange - My car had several monthsof AA cover left when I got it . I contacted AA ( being an AA member) ,and they suspended my personal membership for the duration. Then , at the end ,I caught the plastic strip on thefront bumper on an oversized kerb -called them out to find it would be classed as accident ( I only wanted the bit hanging off cut off ) ,and my Skoda membership had expired and my personal one had not been reinstated .Needless to say - AA got told to go *****, and RAC membership (via my insurance isnow in place ).Perhaps a call to Skoda UK might get results -like voicing your displeasure with RAC policies .
