Fabia vrs brake + power steering problems!

Featured Replies

Hi

Was wondering if any1 can help me? The other day my girlfriend was driving the car, however when she first set off she said she experienced a lack of braking force. Once the car had been driven for a while the brakes appeared to be operating correctly. I have checked the brake fluid level, pads and discs, have also done a bit of reading and have found there can sometimes be a problem with the brake servo unit. Could this be the cause? How do i Fix it?

Also when starting the car for the first time in the morning (particularly when cold outside) the power steering takes a min or two before it starts to work, what could be causing this?

Have thought about changin the power steering fluid to see if this resolves the issue.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated, need to get these problems resolved asap.

Cheers

Martyn

rusty discs would cause the poor brake performance

a power steering fluid change wont make any difference, it may be low, but you would have a noise if that was the case, is the steering warning light showing on the dash ?

The car dosent sit about long enough for the discs to be rusty

The steering warning light stays on slightly longer than the rest of the warning lights, however it goes off before the power steering starts to work.

i have the same two problems with my fabia vrs. with my brakes its due to the condition of the roads lately. i stripped the pads out of it and sprayed brake cleaner over the discs this seems to have sorted it. as with the power steering it is usually due to low battery voltage, once the car has been running for a short amount of time the battery becomes more charged and power steering kicks in. hope this helps
