First time vag com results

Featured Replies

I had the car vag-com’d for the first time today and here are some of my findings. Hopefully those who have and haven’t had there’s done might find this useful and maybe you could comment on things that have and haven’t worked for you that may be different to me. I have MY08 Octy vRS TFSI with added MFD2. The activation of both rear fog lights, cornering lights and leaving home lights worked a treat. Coming home lights we didn’t think had worked but having remembered something I had read previously in the forum leaving my headlights on, turning the ignition off and locking the car activated this in that all the lights stay on for 30 seconds after locking then turn off. They turn on again when you unlock the car. We only had limited time this morning so we didn’t have chance to go looking for other things so I’m not sure what else is possible. We did try activate the door mirror puddle lights and although the coding was accepted they don’t activate so I guess they aren’t actually there. The car was married up with the MFD2 I installed last year. We followed Stu’s guide from his website but found that one instruction didn’t tally with what we had in front of us. In the CAN Gateway The ticky box for Navigation was not in Byte 3 Bit 3 but I think in Bit 4. Not 100% sure, I’m no techy I’m afraid but everything else was spot on. Thank you to roo and VRStu for their guides on how to do things!

On running a scan of the car 2 faults were registered and read as follows

19 CAN Gateway – Status - Malfunction 0010 – Fault Found 01044 Control Module Incorrectly Coded 000--

46 Central Conv. – Status – Malfunction 0010 – Fault Found 01135 Interior Monitoring Sensors 004 No Signal/Communication - Intermittent

I have NO idea what either of those mean. Lol. Any ideas? Should I be worried at all?

The faults were cleared.

A big thanks to bugOlugs who did the work. Top bloke indeed  . Apologies if any of the above has been talked over again and again, hopefully though it is of some use to someone.

You really need to post up the full scan details (not just list the faults)

A list of fault codes can be found on the Ross-Tech wiki

The first one is because you upgraded to the MFD2 and did not recode the car to say a satnav was now present instead of the stream. Basically the car is expecting a stream and finding the MFD2 instead, hence the coding error.

The second one relates to the alarm interior sensors, it looks like you have at least one duff one.

Shame we didn't have more time to spend on the car this morning Will.

For information - the CAN gateway was recoded to recognise the MFD unit in the long coding but the 'fault' was still present on the second scan.

The second fault relating to the interior monitoring did not re-appear on the second scan.

When you have some time and can get over to me, we'll have another play.

Forgot to say; I've checked the millage on this fault and it does tally with the milleage when the car was serviced by Skoda. Hmm
