vRS TSI oil consumption

Featured Replies

I've done just 900 miles in my new petrol engined vRS and thought I'd check the oil - surprised to find the oil level near the bottom of the dipstick ! Has anyone else found this level of oil consumption (assuming of course it was filled correctly in the first place !)

I checked the oil because I had heavy consumption in my mk1 for the first 6000 miles (then it didn't use any between services).

What oil brand would you recommend ? The wallet that holds the manual, etc has a Shell Helix logo so assume this is used from new - bet it isn't cheap - where would it be best to buy from ?

Thanks

It needs to be VW spec oil, more specifically Longlife oil too if you're on variable servicing intervals.

I just get the Castrol/Quantum SLX stuff that my local VAG Parts place sells...

504 spec oil, i got a top up kit from a dealer, it was shell and comes in a holder with gloves etc... If its a 2L petrol FL then its 504 regardless. I always stick to the same brand of oil but that's just me. Next time your filling up with V Power (you are ar'nt you?!) get a bottle, its in the dark brown bottle.

Mine has done 600 now and its only just under the max so yours does sound a little low but who knows it might have been delivered like that. Enjoy the car!

its about 1000miles between top ups on my petrol VRS. Halford do their own brand 504 VW suitable longlife oil and it is at least half the price of branded.

I get about 7500 miles before it needs topped up.

I've been used the Halfords VW compatible oil. £19 for 2l. not cheap but cheaper than Shell Helix.
