hey phil. i remember in the past you fitted an auto dimming interior light in your L&K, do you have the part numbers etc and details of what is you did? i can't find the thread at the moment

was it a straight fit without modding any wiring? the interior light switch in the pickup is completely shot so i thought i'd put one of those auto-dim things in while i am there

cheers, word out

Hey there Tom.

Basically my mods consist of an OEM part that connects in-line with the connector to the light and keeps the light on for around 15secs after (it doesn't dim, just switches off!) it is switched off with closing the door and also turns off if the ignition is turned on in this time.

I have also modfied the wiring slightly so that when I unlock the doors it turns the light on for me and also provides a live to my auto headlights controller for coming/leaving home function.

I havn't the foggiest how i wired it now from memory but would be able to have a think.

The little connector I got looks like this (dodgy camera phone pic warning!):

Part number on it is:

4410.4023-002.6 (an old one obviously)

I got from Butts of Bawtry on their ebay shop.

I know that doesn't help much with your broken light switch but that's all I did to mine. I was planning a W8 light fitting retro fit with the 'cats eye' leds etc but never got round to buying one off ebay and planning the wiring etc.

There are cheap kits you can on ebay that do the same thing as the part I got but I had one which was basically a cheaply put together capacitor etc that just blew up!

Hope that helps Tom.

Phil

thanks phil... ok so as far as i can tell from your high quality picture  you just plug the unit into the light switch then plug the wiring in the other side right?

That's the one!

It just plugs in-line with the original connector for the interior light. Pretty nifty really and suprised they're not more of them around. No idea where you will get hold of one from!?
